We aim to maximise the lifespan of any packaging we receive so most online orders will be shipped in carefully re-used boxes and packaging material. One step to avoid excessive paper waste is that we do not send out paper receipts or delivery notes with our orders. We have ensured that all our suppliers are now packaging our products with paper or cellulose packets and corn chips where possible to minimise use of any plastic.

How often should you wash alpaca socks?
Because of the straight fibre of alpaca yarn, it doesn't trap bacteria in the same way that other fibres do so they don't need to be washed with every wear. Washing the socks less frequently is good environmentally and also extends the life of the socks. Find our beautiful alpaca sock ranges here.

Alpaca is a fantastic soft yarn which is more durable than cashmere, meaning alpaca socks last really well and they're easier to care for. Find our all our beautiful alpaca socks here.

We recommend that our alpaca socks are either hand washed, or machine washed on a trusted delicate or ‘handwash’ setting, and no hotter than 30°. How do I clean a pepper mill?
The best way to clean the outside of your pepper mill is with a soft damp cloth. If you want to, it is possible to polish the brass mills to achieve a shiny golden finish however we love them for their beautiful and unique patina that they develop slowly over time.
To clean the inside of your pepper mill simply remove the screws in the base and the whole mechanism can be taken apart and gently brushed clean with a dry lint-free cloth or brush. You can find out more about our brass pepper mills and our nickel pepper mills on their individual listings.

CANDLES
- Is there a difference between cheap and expensive candles?
- What is special about beeswax candles?
- Why are beeswax candles so expensive?
- What to look for when buying scented candles?
Is there a difference between cheap and expensive candles?
Candles made from paraffin can be made using different grades of paraffin. We select only high grade paraffin for our colourful candles to encourage a clean and even burn.
What is special about beeswax candles?
Beeswax candles are best known for their distinctive golden colour and their delicate and beautiful scent. Beeswax is a natural material which requires minimal processing (reducing its impact on the environment) in order to be made into the candles we burn at home. Beeswax is particularly well suited to tapered candles and pillar candles, both of which we source and all of which are made here in the UK.
Why are beeswax candles so expensive?
As the name suggests, beeswax is only made by bees so the supply of this precious material is limited. Beeswax is a natural material which needs to be carefully handled to create candles. You can find our beeswax candles here.
What to look for when buying scented candles?
The best scented candles are made using a high quality wax and a carefully designed fragrance. The Freight scented candles are made with a sustainable soy wax base, chosen for a clean and even burn, and this is combined with our own signature fragrances. The candle jar has been carefully designed and each one is made by our potter in Stoke on Trent.
