At Freight we strive to produce items that can be made in the UK. Not outsourcing our production needs to other countries when there are such fantastic opportunities available to work more. Our ideas are influenced by the places we have visited and those that have left a significant impression on us. The designs we create and the materials we use are considered and carefully sourced to ensure we are manufacturing items which are going to last well and wear even better. Our hope would be for a Freight product to be used repeatedly with no reason to consider an alternative.
Freight is run by Helene and Adele. We are both passionate advocates of good design which drives not only our business but our everyday lives. We work hard to design products which we hope will fit in to your daily life and become firm favourites.
Helene previously owned a shop in Lewes called 'Adamczewski' which she ran for over 12 years. It was one of the first business's to provide the high street with an eclectic collection of domestic brushes, string, quality lighting and crockery. She has always collected household items whilst passing through antique shops, flea markets, boot fairs and foreign shores. Her eye for the simple yet stunning is well trained and unwavering.
Adele trained in Architectural design at Central St Martins and Brighton University before embarking on the Freight adventure. Her desire to create objects that work well in different contexts has led her to work on designing everything from candle holders to clothing. 'It's a moveable feast when you are working on your own products allowing your creativity to wander and expand. Learning new skills alongside fantastic manufacturers helps to inspire the growing Freight collection.'
We currently run a shop in Lewes which we launched in 2014 as well as our online store and selling our own brand products for wholesale globally.
