The Story

Everyday Rituals of Home

Freight HHG is an independent brand based in the historic county town of Lewes, UK. Since 2014 we’ve been designing products for our growing collection, working with trusted British small-batch makers to produce classic pieces for the everyday rituals of home.

We strive to produce items that can be made here in the UK. We seek provenance and information about the furthest possible starting point for all our goods, ensuring we know the full journey our products take to get to us.

Our designs, and the materials we use, are considered and carefully sourced to ensure our goods last well and wear even better.

The Founders

Hélène and Adele

Hélène previously owned a shop in Lewes called 'Adamczewski,' which she ran for over 12 years. It was one of the first businesses to provide the high street with an eclectic collection of domestic brushes, string, quality lighting and crockery. Hélène has always collected household items whilst passing through antique shops, flea markets, boot fairs and foreign shores. Her eye for the simple yet stunning is well-trained and unwavering.

Adele trained in Architectural Design at Central St Martins and Brighton University before embarking on the Freight adventure. Her desire to create objects that work well in different contexts has led her to designing everything from candle holders to clothing.

We are both passionate advocates of good design which drives not only our business but our everyday lives. We work hard to design products which we hope will fit into your daily life and become firm favourites.

The Shop

Where It All Happens

Our bricks-and-mortar shop sits at the top of the high street in Lewes. This is where we welcome visitors familiar and new each day, and gather as a team to discuss designs and plans over a good cup of coffee in our shop kitchen.

Most of what we sell is designed by us, born out of a desire to enhance and simplify everyday life. The shop is a living, breathing embodiment of this philosophy – a place so like a home that we are often asked, "can I move in?!"
